Volunteers are the most precious resource

To get started volunteering -

1. Training - Short online training that all new volunteers need to view before volunteering. Clicking here to view the training.

2. Waiver - All volunteers must fill out and sign a waiver. Click here to view it. Please bring it the first time you come to volunteer.

3. Court Ordered Form (if applicable) - All court ordered community service volunteers need to fill out the court ordered community service form. Click here to view all information pertaining to volunteering as a court ordered volunteer and to print the form.

4. Sign Up - After going through training you can sign up to volunteer whenever you would like. The calendar is online so that you can sign up at your convince and come volunteer whenever you would like.

          To Sign Up - 

  • Click the Volunteer UP link in the top right side of the screen.
  • Log In or Register, if you are new to this system
  • Return to the Calendar
  • Click the day that you would like to volunteer under the column for the project you would like to volunteer at
  • This will take you to a screen with information about the day
  • Input a team name if you have one, choose an e-mail reminder and then choose “sign up”
  • You should see a page that says “sign up confirmation”. If you do not place fix the error that is indicated and click “sign up” again.

Groups - 5 people or less are welcome to volunteer any time and can sign up online to do so. Groups larger than 5 people will need to work with Volunteer Relations to plan the build day.   • Build Site Volunteers

    Build Days are Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays & some Sundays.

    Volunteers under age 16 are not permitted on the build site in accordance with Connecticut State labor laws. Volunteers between the ages of 16 and 18 must be accompanied by an adult, are not permitted to use power tools or be on roofs.

    There will be tools on site, but if you prefer to bring your own tool belt and hand tools you are welcome to. Please do not bring any handmade tools or power tools. Label your personal tools before the day and take them home with you when you leave.

    Please bring your lunch, a water bottle and a to-go coffee mug that can be refilled throughout the day.

  • Restore Volunteers

    ReStores are located in Waterford and Plainfield, CT and sell new and gently used appliances, furniture and building materials. All proceeds are used in the creation of simple, decent housing through the mission of HFHECT.

    The ReStore needs volunteers interested in staffing the store. Some tasks include stocking, cleaning, organizing, register support, loading merchandise office support and much more. The ReStore is in particular need of individuals who can come on a regular basis, but all volunteers are welcome.

    Volunteers at the ReStore must be at least 14 years old. Anyone 14 and 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult when volunteering.


  • Youth Programs

    Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut (HFHECT) looks to engage youth of all ages in the efforts to eliminate substandard housing.  Youth are encouraged to do age appropriate activities independently and as group on Habitat's behalf.
