Surveys of Habitat homeowners and their families show better financial health, parents who are more confident about meeting their family’s needs, and even improved grades for their children.

Wherever we work, we witness tangible evidence that decent, affordable shelter creates long-lasting and life-changing impact on families and communities.

In the survey, homeowners repeatedly talked about the expanded concept of personal well-being. They reported less stress, embarrassment, and shame, and more freedom and independence, security and stability, peace of mind, and pride and happiness in owning their own home.

When you have a safe, well-built place to call home, your whole world can change. Habitat builds houses for many reasons, yet one of the most dynamic outcomes is building confidence in the families who live in Habitat homes. Becoming a partner with Habitat teaches families new skills, gives them opportunities to be involved with a program that nurtures, trains, inspires and empowers. Becoming a Habitat homeowner is sometimes the most important accomplishment in a new homeowner’s life. With the confidence to overcome odds, to create a new vision for the future, to build your own home; these are the outcomes that are irreplaceable in a family’s life.

By donating to Habitat this week, you are directly connected to our mission, our Future Homeowners and their children. Your support will foster immeasurable confidence within the entire family. What an incredible gift that is to a family. Your support can take on many roles: financial contributions, donation of time by committing to a long-term volunteer schedule, advocate for Habitat by sharing with others through social media and outreach, serving on committees, shopping at our ReStore locations and donating furniture and building supplies, too.
